Counseling for Midlife Crisis

Counseling for Midlife Crisis

Midlife crises usually happen around age 40-60. Common triggers include children moving out, not feeling that you are where you wanted to be in life at this age, job and career dissatisfaction, relationship issues, getting old, fearing death, and health issues. Often during this phase, people start overanalyzing life, and experience regrets for past life choices, which can lead to depression.

Ways to cope involve talking to a mental health practitioner and/or participating in support groups to examine whether you are living according to your values. These things will help you to set new goals, adjust negative thoughts, and bring some changes that can make you turn things around, adding joy and excitement to this phase of life.
