Anxiety & Depression Therapy
There are several types of depression, which vary in severity. They can be linked to situational, biological, psychosocial, and brain chemistry causes, as well as hormonal changes that come with conditions such as pregnancy and menopause.
Symptoms include intense sadness, lack of motivation, fatigue, pain syndromes, irregular sleep, helplessness, and hopelessness, as well as withdrawal from other people, activities, and day-to-day responsibilities. Depression can also cause concentration problems and forgetfulness. These symptoms work together to keep you trapped in the cycle of depression. Depression symptoms can vary dramatically from person to person.
Depression must be taken seriously as it can lead one to feel that life is not worth living. It is important to remember that depression is not a sign of weakness and is not a permanent state of mind without a cure.
Psychotherapy alone can ameliorate or dissolve the symptoms of depression, though in some cases, the use of medication and psychotherapy together is recommended.
What to expect from our sessions:
In our sessions, I will run some assessments to identify the type of depression you are suffering from. If we identify specific or situational reasons, we will work on changing what is causing the depression.
If the depression is more on the biological side, I will help you explore additional alternative treatments and create a specific treatment plan that focuses on changing the negative perspectives, distortions, and associations that are causing the symptoms, opening up more positive alternative ways of looking at the problems.
